An Experience Like No Other

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is unique across the world. While there are many events, both large and small, Fiesta (as it is ffectionately referred to) is the largest. Each October, for over fifty years now, balloonists from all over the world gather together to fly, to socialize, to compete in a place with the best ballooning weather, the best food, and the best people to be found anywhere.

I grew up in Albuquerque, but it took moving away and returning for a visit to begin to understand this event. I am fortunate to have been introduced in 2013 to (arguably) the best balloonists on the planet, Steve and Joan, who take people on, train them very well, and build a community of terrific folks. My first time crewing was in 2015, and I return every year that I am able.
